A Wonderful Radio Programme for Remembrance Day
« on: Friday 12 November 10 19:11 GMT (UK) »
~~~~~~~~
In honour of Remembrance Day BBC Radio Berkshire have put together a wonderful radio programme called Mud, Blood and Biscuitmen, following some of the Reading Football Club players and their lives during WW1.
Some of the current players and the manager of the Football Club have been to France and followed the experiences of their counterparts. To hear the current and former players reactions to what their old comrades went through is truly inspiring. The horror, admiration and warmth with which they express their feelings as they follow their lives and deaths brings a tear to the eye on more than one occasion.
There is a short video/audio clip here so that you can get the flavour http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/berkshire/hi/people_and_places/history/newsid_9180000/9180800.stm
and the whole programme, about an hour, is on Iplayer for the next 7 days
Whilst the Beeb does not always make great programmes today, this one is one really not to be missed and it does not matter whether you are interested in football or not. Well done BBC Berkshire for bringing this to life
PS If the links above don’t work, go to BBC Radio Berkshire and search for Mud, Blood and Biscuitmen
