« on: Sunday 14 November 10 21:18 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for more info. on this couple I can find no marriage for them all I know they had one son James born c 1840 in Leith he married a Helen Morrison in Leith in 1871 and died in 1908 .I  have three of their  children . James remarried after Helen died in 1895.
Philip b 1817 in Leith was the son of Peter McCaskill and Christina McLeod they married in 1814 also Leith.
I would like to find more on Philip and Margaret and if they had brothers or sisters.

The only James McCaskill b Leith I can find is on the 1901 census and he was b 1852 - not 1840 -  occ seaman and married to Isabella.  If this is him - your birthyear is way out

This may be him in 1851.  His parents were Philip & Margaret and grandmother Bingham incorrectly indexed as Benham.  You would need to check the original image as they are indexed as McCuskie, not McCaskill.  IGI entry for Jemima shows her as Bingham

2 Catskin Close Leith - all b South Leith Midlothian except the lodger

Margaret Bingham 58
Jemima Bingham 20 dtr
Philip McCuskie 34 son in law - seaman
Margaret   32 dtr
George 13
Peter 9
Margaret  6
Philip  3
James 1 month
John MacKenzie 51 lodger b Ross

Leith South ED 26 Page  10 Line 19

IGI entry for Jemima shows father as George and mother as Margaret Swan.  IGI has no details for Margaret jnr but there was a daughter Alexa born to George & Margaret in 1822 - see IGI

If you check the IGI using Philips parents names - they also had a son John in 1820

I am hoping that someone will do me a look up for Philip and Margaret in 1861 census . I know they are both deceased on James marriage certificate in 1871 and am trying to get pinpoint an approximate year of death .

Thanks

I couldn't find them in 1861 - I tried using just Phil** and James but nothing looks remotely like McCaskill
