Augheragh?- completed
« on: Thursday 18 November 10 11:21 GMT (UK) »
Dia daoibh uilig!

Patrick Lilly, the presumed father of Margaret Lilly, the subject of my previous post, died in March 1878 in "Augheragh", in the Registrar's District of Enniskillen, in the Union of Enniskillen. I have not been able to find that place name in either the book "List of townlands...1850" or in Logainm or on the Seanruad site or on Google Maps.

Logainm suggests "Aghahannagh", but that is in Drumkeeran, which seems a long way from Enniskillen.

The death of Patrick Lilly was declared by a John Lilly and in Griffiths I find a John Lilly mentioned as living in "Cleenish, Aghannagh", which is much closer to Enniskillen town. Could that be "Augheragh"

In 1864 Patrick Lilly was a shoemaker on Windmill Hill in Enniskillen town.

Any suggestions?

Beannachtai,

You're allowed to post a small portion of the certificate for deciphering purposes which might help us discover the place.

I posted a question on the Logainm website and of its researchers has suggested that the townland I am looking for is most likely "Aghannagh". That fits the context well, since, as I said in my first post, I found a John Lilly living in Aghannagh in Griffith's Valuation. I think that settles the question.
