Archibald AITKIN

Hoping someone can help me. I am looking for the death of Archibald Aitkin who died in Wilton. He married Margaret Beattie in 1849 and Margaret died in 1893 and she was widowed. I have looked in ScotlandsPeople and it dosent seem to be bringing anything up.

Where did Margaret die in 1893? have you found the family in any census records between 1849-1893 which would narrow down the date?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hi George

Likely death for Archibald between 1881-91. He shows with wife Margaret at 13 Wilton Path, Wilton in 1881 and then for 1891, Margaret, still living at that address, is down as head.

Have you tried spelling variants for Atkin on Scotlands People?

The closest I can see for deaths of an Archibald A*tk*n in Roxburghshire is one that is indexed as aged 2 at death between 1881-91. So happens it is in Wilton, so either this may be a grandson of the family or possibly (outside chance!) that Archibald's death age may have been mis-indexed?

In the whole of Scotland there were only 3 deaths of an Archibald A*tk*n, with a birth year range of 1825 +/- 10yrs. Don't know whether you may have looked at these in case he died outside of the county.

Thanks everyone for taking an interest in Archibald AITKIN. I did what Monica sugested using spelling variants and it came up with Archibald AITON. Paid my credits to check it and there it was 22nd October 1890 aged 69. Thanks again.
George
