Hi,

Quote
And finally, John Sullivan (b ca 1888, London) came to NZ in 1909. I assume he too married in NZ, so I am seeking his marriage (and any offspring).

Looking for the marriage of John Sullivan will be like a needle in the haystack, unless you know if he had a middle name.    There are quite a few marriages for just  "John Sullivan" ranging from 1909 to 1953.

There's a Maria Sullivan also at Waikumete, d. 1980 age 85 fairly close so might be worth checking, as the others are there.

Thanks for the info so far. With respect to John Sullivan, I don't know if he had a middle name, I'm afraid. I was hoping to find his death and work backwards....

Janette,

That is almost definitely him - I'd been working through the death dates to narrow down the search to people of the right age with respect to his birth, but his occupation was seaman and he was catholic. Thank you!

Good find Janette :D

If the headstone has the wife listed then that is the whole needle found .... may be an email to the cemetery to find more info.
