If you're calling me Napoleon - I'll have to start calling you Joesphine !! :P

I realise that this was too early - but I thought maybe (you never know!) it might be his father or Grandfather!! ................ !

Quite right, Annie,
I'll file that marriage away carefully...and that reminds me, when I was about 12 years old, and at school, I played a (very) flat-chested wife of one of the Napoleons  (was it Marie-Louise?), I think, in a play called "L'Aiglon", so I have been known to carry off the gender change quite successfully...

Annie,
I've got a picture somewhere from the production, of me kneeling at my dying son's deathbed (TB, I think it was), and inside my plunging neckline there is - absolutely nothing.  If I can find it, I'll scan it and e-mail you with it...
Thanks for the history lesson...those dates for Marie Louise show that she was very much a contemporary of William and Betty Dyson, but the search for their marriage this side of La Manche goes on...

I've just looked at something called the Eccles Marriage Fiche. This shows William DYSON married Betty CHAPMAN in 1816. No other details, but at least it narrows your search.

These fiche refer to marriages at St Mary's Eccles. Not sure if it also includes the other churches/chapels in the parish of Eccles (I think these were St Peter's Swinton, St Thomas Pendleton and Ellenbrook Chapel)

There were also these DYSON marriages which you might be interested in:

1831 Abraham DYSON m Mary MOTTRAM

Sorry, didn't get as far as lady DYSONs

Skb,
Thank you so much for this little discovery.  I've been stuck for ages as to where exactly in the Salford area this marriage took place.  Now that you've narrowed it right down, perhaps I can get a look at the correct original register, wherever it is, to glean more family details.
A just-in-time-for-Christmas present - well done!

Skb,
Sorry, bit of an after-thought...Did it not even give the day and the month for this 1816 marriage for William and Betty...?
Last query pre-Xmas shutdown,

Sorry, no. It's just a list of couples with year of marriage.

There  is a microfilm copy of the actual register in Manchester Central Library. If someone is going there in the near future, perhaps they could look it up for you. If the son Daniel was baptised in February 1816, it's possible that they married in January or early February.

Thanks, Skb,
I'll see whether I can have a look at the original next time I'm up in Manchester (last time was 13 years ago)...
