Roland TEASDALE Can Anyone find him?COMPLETE
« on: Thursday 25 November 10 14:56 GMT (UK) »
My cousin and I are tracing our respective family trees and she has sent me a photo of our cousin Roland Teasdale born 1899 , in Naval Uniform.
The information I have was that he was killed in France in 1916 but unusually for me I have no substantive evidence for this.
He was born in Dec qtr 1899 in North Shields and his parents were Frederick William Teasdale and Mary Ellen Henry , our grandmother's sister.
I have been unable to find out anything more about Roland although I think I may have found details of the death in France of his brother Frederick born 1898 in North Shields. This fact I have yet to prove.
Can anyone help with further information about these two brothers?

Hi Irene

For Roland there is no military death recorded in WW1, nor are there RN papers for that name.  You should check FreeBMD in case he died as a civilian. There are a few Fred(erick)s on the CWGC website that you may wish to check. If they did die in WW1 you should check the war memorial in the parish where they lived.

Thanks Ken

I have not been able to find a marriage or a death for Roland Teasdale in FREE .....which only goes up to Mar 1949 .I will have to look elsewhere in BMDs.

Yes I have now found Roland's brother Frederick William Teasdale who was killed in action 24 July 1917 aged 19 in France/Flanders.

Are you positive it's a Naval uniform? Can you post it?

Hi,

Perhaps he used another name - 16 to enlist?

I have tried on numerous occasions to post a phto without success.

In the photo Roland is wearing what looks to be a serge double breasted jacket, a wing collar shirt and a peaked hat with a badge which looks like 2 large serrated leaves with a badge in the middle showing an anchor surmounted by a crown.

I will try to post the photo later this evening. I have been summoned to produce food for my husband first.

Hi Keyboard

I don't think this is my Roland Teasdale who was born in1899. Although it is a very uncommon name there is another Roland Teasdale born in 1922 in Gateshead and who died in 1989. This second one I feel must be some relation although his parents are John & Rose neither of whom I can relate to.
