Josiah Drummond/ Emilia Crearar - a missing son
« on: Sunday 28 November 10 15:34 GMT (UK) »
Josiah is my most distant Drummond ancestor. I know of 4 children he had with Emilia: John, b.1763; Margaret, b. 1765; Catherine, b. 1767; Alexander, b. 1769, all in Fowlis Wester. John married Isabella McDuff in 1788; their son, John, a soldier, married Jean Currie and moved to Australia after leaving the army. In his biography, John states that his father had a brother Donald who married, lived in Crieff and had two daughters, Janet and Mary, neither of whom married. I have been unable to find any trace of Donald or his daughters. I suspect that he would have been born around 1771. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who might have some knowledge of Donald.

Just having a look round familysearch.org (IGI and the pilot site). It seems Josiah & Emilie/a had  another child Isabell  17 Nov 1771 Fowlis Wester. They appear to have Fowlis Wester baptisms for the time frame you are looking for but can't see anything for Donald.

William McDuff Drummond's grandaughter, Jean Currie Drummond 1851-1908 married William Swasbrick in Beechworth, Australia in 1870 - there are heaps of their descendents in NE Victoria.  Jane Swasbrick 1853-1895 , William's younger sister, was my great grandmother.
