Thomas Abel Barrett

Hi all,

I am trying to find any information on Thomas Abel Barrett (have seen barrett spelt different ways). On the IGI it says he was born in abt 1772 in Exton Rutland but the parish records don't seem to support this....so where did he come from? I still think Rutland but don’t know where. He did have children in Exton with someone called Susanna (surname unknown) on the IGI it says she was born in Exton in abt 1776. I'm not sure if they were married or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

I was looking up Barret for your other post and found the following children of John Barret and Lucy and as you will see Thomas is mentioned:

James Barret  30/12/1787

Frances dau of Susanna Barret  bp 1/1/1792 Exton ?illegitimate no father mentioned
William Charity Barret so of Susanna Barret 28/3/1798 ? illeg
John s/o Susanna Barret 13/11/1800 Base born
Thomas s/o Abel and Susanna 15/11/1807
All EXTON
Also found the following burials in Exton:
William Barret 9/10/1770
William Barret 16/4/1777
John Barret 15/8/1794

I have looked at all my CD's of Rutland and Rutland marriage Indexes and cannot find a marriage i of John and Lucy in Rutland.

I am sorry for not getting back to you sooner we have just had an earthquake that has caused a lot of devastation, we have just got the power back on.

Thank you for the details these confirm what I have, I think John & Lucy are going to give me trouble. I have only found one John & Lucy marriage that is in the correct time frame (on the family search site) but I don't know if its them as this couple also had a quaker wedding  in the same year but in a different place. Leiston wasn't that far from Rutland (a couple of hours I think) so it could be them but i'm not sure

I started having a look for you at bmd in Exton 1597-1812, which adds to Forte finds...then thought it would be better giving you the link so you can look for any further baptisms and the marriages/deaths yourself
