Holden Family.
« on: Wednesday 01 December 10 12:17 GMT (UK) »
Hi.
I am trying to gather as much information as I can about the Holden family who lived at 12 Tullowbeg Street,Tullow. This information I gathered from the 1901-1911 Census but the information there is very limited.

It only shows the birth of both Mary and John Holden, when in actual fact there were a total of ten children born to John and Bridget Holden.

I am also trying to gather more information about the parents,John and Bridget Holden,nee Berney.

I know John Holden was a horse trader and known locally as,"john of Tullow" and that he died at his sisters,Mrs Doyles house, in Tinnahinch on the 4th September 1947,aged 70.

He was also a widower,so I would dearly love to find out about his wife,who was my grandmother.

Hi.
I'm trying to gather information on the Holden Family.I know that John Holden married Bridget Holden,nee Berney, and lived together at 12 Tullowbeg St,Tullow,and it shows on the 1911 census that they had two children,namely,Mary and John.

I know they went on to have a total of ten (10) children,one of them being my father,Patrick Holden. I know nothing of Patrick Holdens subsequent marriage,or what he did during his lifetime only that he was born on the 16th June 1916.

My grandfather John Holden died on 4th Sept 1947 at his sisters house in Tinnahinch,she was known then as Mrs Doyle. I know very little about my grandmother,Bridget Holden,nee Berney and would love to be able to expand on the family complete.

The marriage of John Holden and Bridget Birney is registered in Carlow Oct - Dec 1906 Volume 3 page 319. You can order a photocopy of the certificate from GRO Roscommon. Should cost you €4.

www.groireland.ie/

Download the form and post or fax it back to them. Quote the above information to ensure you get the correct certificate. That will give you their father's names.

A good Holden;
Dinny Holden, 56 year old soldier from Carlow, who 'deserted' so often from the rear to the front lines, that he was eventually allowed to remain there;

I'm now trying to get hold of the marriage details for Patrick Holden.

Patrick was born on the 25th June 1916 in Carlow and it is believed that he married a girl from Tralee and then joined the irish army where he stayed for a number of years.

Unfortunately,I do not know the name of the lady patrick married, or have any details of her family.

Any help would be very much appreciated.
