Trying to do too many things at once here.  ::)

That's an interesting birth.....how would you  get Shepherd out of Doherty....but it looks like the right one, doesn't it?

The only James Clark* b.c. 1837 in Scotland with father Richard  that I've been able to find on the 1841 is living at 58 Hadden Street, Woodside, Old Machar, Aberdeen (168/12/11)

Richard Clarke, 38, linen bleacher
Kynoch, 37
Eliza, 10, linen spinner
Margt, 8
James, 4

All born Aberdeenshire

The usual sources list them in a very large household but the original page shows them as seperate - the houses in this part of Aberdeen are of the tenement type and would have had many families living in one house.

I can't find this family on the 1851.

Thanks Gadget.  :D

If there's no sign of the family in 1851, and that is the James who is father of Ashley, maybe  Richard etc also migrated..... I'll see if I can find anything here later today.

Hi. Don't know if this helps you, but I have used the following method to get in contact with lost relatives.

Find the most recent burial/cremation you can.
Contact the cemetery/crematorium to find out which funeral company was used.
Contact the company stating you are trying to get in contact with the family. For privacy purposes they cannot give you any information. Just leave them your name and contact details and ask them if they could pass them on to the next of kin that they have on record.

As I say, this has worked for me twice. Good luck. Katharine.

Thanks Katherine.   :D  :D

That thought is one of the possibilities we're considering, also the Funeral Director.

I'm still working on the Clarke family, and have quite a bit more information to post when I get it sorted. There seems to be some misinformation in one particular source of information, and it's taking me a while to work out what is what. It seems that some of the Clarke family also went to Western Australia.

What I'm really hoping is that someone googling will pick up on this thread, and make contact. That would simplify matters so much.
