See my Web site at http://home.comcast.net/~makinson and under "histories" or "genealogies" you will find "Makinson". My relatives lived both in Lancashire and Derbyshire. I also have some contacts who are connected to the Makinson's who are searching for Makinson's as well.

Hi,

ancestors of mine called Cocker came from Calver.
I am descended from Ann Cocker, daughter of Robert Cocker of Calver and his wife who was formerly Ann Barghe.
Ann Cocker the younger married Thomas Sharman in Stoney Middleton in 1818.

Hi,
my Robert Cocker was christened in Baslow on 9th Aug 1753.
His parents were John and Mary Cocker.
Robert married Ann Barghe in Baslow on 3rd May 1779.
He had a son Robert baptised 1781.
This Robert was the brother of my ancestor Ann Cocker baptised in 1797.
Is this the same family, are your Robert and my ann brother and sister do you think?
Regards
Jean Sandra

Hi,
it looks as though your Cockers are a parallel family but not living too far away and could have been related much earlier.
Interesting though.
