Brian McBroom from Ohio here.  You've assisted me in the past.
I don't have any information that would indicate a connection between Samuel Todd McBroom my great grand uncle, and your Isaac McBroom in Illinois.  Maybe in distant past.
My great great grandfather was Walter McBroom, almost sure from Ballyboly Co. Antrim.
Settled in Dearborn County Indiana 1850's
Married Ann Jane Todd
Samuel Todd their first born son, my great grandfather Robert Miller McBroom's brother.
