Fantastic. Although looking for a marriage for a George to his first wife is trickier than looking for it under  Matthew!

Looks like Matthew is on the 1901 with Maria again? Matthew dies 1911, so don't know if he is on the 1911 (not asking for a look up of this one for obvious reasons)

1891 I prefer this to the East Grinstead:

RG12/158/166/44
24 Charlesworth Street, Islington

HOBBS, George  Head  M  60  Grocer  Hammersmith
CHUGG, Ann  Daughter  F  35  St Lukes
CHUGG, Thomas  Son-in-Law  M  32  Hotel Liftman  Devonshire, Coemartin (surely Combe Martin?)
HOBBS, Matthew G  Son  M  18  Grocers Assistant (Weak intellect)  St Lukes
HOBBS, Henry J  Son  M  15  Van boy  St Lukes
HOBBS, Arthur W  Son  M  11  Scholar  Islington
HOBBS, Edward E  Son  9  Scholar  Islington
CHUGG, Edith E  Grand-daughter  F  6  Scholar  Walworth, Surrey
CHUGG, Bertie T  Grandson  M  6  Scholar  Walworth, Surrey
CHUGG, George R Grandson  M  4  Scholar  Camberwell, Surrey

The 3 eldest sons match the 1881 census?

Yes, you have the advantage over me as I can't see the actual census :)

Fantastic.  :o So the other one is a red herring.

Poor son Matthew being described as ' weak intellect'.

The East Grinstead couple were both born in Sussex, Withyham where they were living.

So it's definitely the wrong Hobbs!
