J.G. Edwards Photographer - Jedburgh
« on: Friday 10 December 10 13:09 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I'm trying to work out when two photos were taken by J.G. Edwards.

Does anyone know when this photographer operated in Jedburgh?

Unfortunately I don't have the photos to hand so I can't at present provide a specific address but if I recall correctly the card mentioned two other locations along with Jedburgh.

Both photos are group shots of servants at Hunthill.

Regards,

S_L

Hello,   I have a little booklet called "Photographers in Southern Scotland to 1914 and the only Edwards I can find is Andrew E. (R) 1882-1891 New Bongate, Jedburgh.
Don't know if this helps at all.

The A. R. Edwards you mention was the main photographer in Selkirk  for many years  certainly up to the 50s with lots of his work going to the Museum Service. I would try the Record Office at Hawick( The Hub) who may know the other Edwards in Jedburgh.
Clappertons  who have the Photograph Museum in Selkirk were the other well known photographers in Selkirk.

Thank you both.

Bongate rings a bell so I suspect I might have mis-remembered the initials. I'll double-check the next time I can view the original.
