Hi

I hope this is a full summary of the details on the two Frederick Storeys who died in the East End in 1918.

The Frederick who left the will in 1918 whose wife was Mary Ann Ada, was the one who died in Poplar

Deaths Jun 1918   Storey  Frederick  57  Poplar  1c 505

aged 57, therefore birth year circa 1861

though he may have been a trifle older

Births Sep 1858   Storey  Frederick Robert     Poplar  1c 567

He is discounted and only mentioned because it is perhaps with him comes the confusion of a Frederick Storey with a wife called Ada? He seems to be the only one in the London area whose wife had for one of her names the name Ada. He would be a perfect match for the Frederick who married Mary Ann Ada Capon in 1886. Apart from that he is of no interest since he wasn't the man who married Emma and died in Shoreditch.

The Frederick who died in Shoreditch in 1918 was older and did not leave a will, if he had this would probably be a lot easier

Deaths Mar 1918  Storey  Frederick  72  Shoreditch  1c 124

birth year of circa 1846 and therefore a match to the Frederick Storey who is being sought

Births Dec 1845  STOREY  Frederick     Lambeth  4 205

who married

Marriages Dec 1871
Deller  Emma    Shoreditch  1c 302
Storey  Frederick     Shoreditch  1c 302

and was in Shoreditch with her as late as the 1911 census.
The confusion arrives with this man because his death certificate gives his widow's name as Ada not Emma. It could be a mistake on the certificate, or he was living with a woman called Ada who was living as his wife though was not legally his wife, or he is a doppelganger for the Frederick being sought, but if so who was he since there doesn't seem to be any other Fredericks who are likely fits for this death registration.

There will be few cemetery records online in the C20th for London. Abney Park is one of the major exceptions. There are quite a few to chose from but start with Tower Hamlets and work out from there

If a private plot was not purchased then the only information will be that contained in the burial register - name, age and address and who conducted the cereremony. The useful information you already have from the death certificate. If a private plot was purchased then you would have expected it to be used for the burial of Emma.

Thanks Valda

That summarises things pretty neatly-  i'll put it down to a mistake on the certificate rather than cast aspersions!

Now i just need to locate him!

Thanks for your help

perhaps another way to confirm would be to check the address for the 1911 census in street directories and see when they disappear from there or at least when Mr Storey becomes Mrs Storey indicating that Fred had died

Frederick's son, Herbert Henry Storey, married Ada Harkem in 1906. Could the informant, therefore, be his daughter-in-law rather than wife?

Nigel

I think you have sorted it - great stuff.

If he died in Shoreditch Infirmary - i just need to find where he may have gone in 1918 to be buried ie. which graveyards were still operating and Valda has pointed me in the right direction.

Thanks for your help
