How old was Jane when she married and where was she born? Put in these details and search 1841 census without a surname and see what you get.

Josie.

Same for father.

Is this certificate from the GRO, and is it handwritten? The GRO have no access to the original register, they only have the copies sent in as the Quarterly Returns. So it could be a copy of a copy and the name has been wrongly copied, or the minister has entered it incorrectly.

hi thanks
the cerificate is from gro and is handwritten
cerified to be a true copy of an entry in the certified copy of a register of marriages the handwriting looks  original so maybe the vicar made a mistake
I haven't got accesss to 1841 census to check janes details her residence at time of marrriage is given as st pauls her age is entered as full age

My family all come from Macc....they have a tendancy to drop H's and add them where they don't belong.

Have you thought of Hollins as a surname.

St Paul's is the Catholic Church- my aunt and uncle maried there in 1950.

If you check www.cheshirebmd.org.uk it shows that the marriage was definitely at Macclesfield.

Have you managed to find the married couple in any later census records?  I've had a quick look but can't see anything obvious in 1851.  It might help to locate them in 1841.

There's a Jane Hollins b1821 Cheshire not with family in 1841 in Astbury near Congleton

wwww.cheshirebmd.org.uk have wrigleys, mother's name hollins born Hazelgrove district in reg district stockport

Elizabeth 1858
Henry 1862

1871 Hazelgrove
Class: HO107; Piece 119; Book: 5; Folio: 10; Page: 14
John Wrigley 45 Macclesfield
Jane Wrigley 52 Congleton
Samuel Wrigley 17 macclesfield
Elizabeth Wrigley 12 Bramall
Henry Wrigley 8 Bramall

Looking at other years Birmingham is also given as her place of birth, unless they are a different family, 1851 there is a Rigley family..

Do you have a name on a birth certificate?
