Hello,
We live at Higher Plot Farm, then known as Plot Stream Farm and  one William Shepherd bought the farm around 1868. Presumably the father of the William Shepherd you are looking for. We have the deeds for Old Ditch (originally Hedditch) which is a close of land nearby that he bought. From what you say this could be the farm next door I think now known as Prospect House. There are people that remember both being in the same ownership. When our farm was renovated the builders found an old photo that we think might be the Shepherds.
