I'm descended from Patrick Blyth and Isobel Inglis, who were married in 1709 at Abbotshall, Kirkcaldy. Their son Patrick Blyth (b.1711) married Margaret Watson in 1744 at Dysart/Abbotshall.

Patrick and Margaret had a daughter called Isobel Blyth (b.1748, Abbotshall) who married William Anderson at Dysart/Abbotshall in 1770.

William Anderson and Isobel Blyth were my 4 x great-grandparents. They would eventually move to Pittenweem in east Fife where they were the ancestors of the fishing families of Anderson and Horsburgh.

Hi Harry nothing on the above sorry

Hello Norrie,

Brilliant!  Thank you so much for that.  John Blyth and Margaret Simpson Christie (Dys 291) were my paternal grandparents so it's great to see their stone.  Pity it's a bit weather beaten but I'm really pleased that it's still there.  The others you sent have given me several leads to follow up which is good.

With regard to the other Blyths in Dysart, Dys 788 James McFarlane Blyth and Laura Blyth and Dys 272 James S Smith and Annie Blyth, are, I'm sure, mine too.

Dys 443 William Blyth and Dys 1288 William Blyth may be mine because I've got a couple of Williams for whom I do not yet have spouses.  I'll check them out with SP when I renew my credits.

So, thank you once again.  You've made an old man very happy.

Kind regards,

Jack

Hello Norrie,

William Reekie and Sophia C Blyth (Ben 249) were my uncle and aunt so the inscription on their stone (and photo if possible) would be most welcome.  Thanks again,

Jack

A Good New Year to you Norrie!

Many thanks for your last posting.  I wonder if you could look up another one for me.  It is for my Uncle Bert and Auntie Jeannie, more specifically:

Robert Herdman (1905-1968) & Jane Booth Blyth (1901-1986).

They lived for a while in Lady Helen Street, just behind Abbotshall Kirk, but could be buried anywhere.  He was manager of Raith Rovers from 1945 to 1962 and I have fond memories of him.

Kind regards,

Jack

Hi Jack  Bert is not in Abbotshall or Bennochy Cemetery
more likely to be in the newer Hayfield Cemetery, I intend to
go and photograph headstones there later this  week so
will look for them.
question was Bert Herdman born in Kirkcaldy
I only have one HERDMAN inscription in index in Dumfermline
Erected by Arch. HERDMAN in memory of his
wives Janet HENDERSON died 23.4.1868 age 30
Elizabeth BROWN died 20.81908 age 60
above Archibald HERDMAN died 8.4.1927 age 87

Hello Norrie,

I've been unable to find any birth or baptism for Bert Herdman.  There are some thoughts within the family that he may have been born in Stoke on Trent.  I've searched the GRO indexes but have found no trace up to now.

Good luck at Hayfield.
