John Henry Albert Tuttle

I am trying to find the birth record for my great,great grandfather. His name was John Henry Albert Tuttle - he was born in Connecticut USA in 1824 and died in 1894 in Holyoke,Hampden,Mass. His father was John Todd Tuttle and his mother was supposedly Liza or Lisa Atwater, but I can find no record of her anywhere or an exact date of John Henry's Birth - I would love to obtain his birth certificate.

There were, I think, several Tuttle family histories/genealogies written in Victorian times/early 1900s although cannot say how accurate they might be. Using Google or another search engine might find references. State-wide registration of births, marriages and deaths in Connecticut began 1 July 1897- earlier records with town/city clerks and also in Barbour Collection in State Library (Hartford).

This was the previous thread which Collette raised in conjunction with the Liverpool and South West Genealogy Forum - I'ii pop them here so that people can see what has been done before.   There was some discrepancies with the birth date of John Henry Todd - according to the 1850 Census in New York he would have been 17 - so born 1833 - yet other information was showing 1824.

There are no BMD records in the USA as there are in the UK, what is available varies State to State and County to County.  The site below would be one to refer to.  Sorry I could'nt be more helpful.
