Thanks for that info lowanslow,

It will verify that I have the right records if I find the event in a soldier's papers.

The situation is now more complex because I have recently made contact with a third
cousin who has a record of another family marriage in 1918, and nothing at all is known
about the groom's war service if any, so I will be giving the records a good searching
via Ancestry over the next few weeks, looking for two men rather than one.

Thanks for your New Year wishes, and of course I wish you the same. My global message
to all Rootschatters is at http://www.rootschat.com/links/0azx/ but I warn you, it's a
long read - one has to be so careful over the wording these days. ;D

I've removed the completed from the title, as this is patently ongoing!!
One more charge and then be dumb,
When the forts of Folly fall,
May the victors when they come
Find my body near the wall.

in my opinion the chap at the back is Artillery and the one at the front is probably Worcestershire Regt - local regt too so quite likley.
