Facebook account help. Completed thanks

I do not use my facebook account a lot, but I had to reset my password yesterday I had a confirmation email from facebook with a code to enter, instead of allowing me back on my account it has given me a new account. I can see myself on my old account so it still exists, but unable to access it tried the help pages, did not seem to given an solution. Any ideas ?

I don't use Facebook myself but have shown this to my daughter who is an avid user, she says it sounds a bit odd and perhaps you should email Facebook support and ask them:

Scroll down to bottom of page on Facebook, click Help (at far right), pick whichever help item sounds most fitting - probably Log In and password and from there contact support.

just read your post. two of my friends have had trouble with facebook. one of them had same problem as yourself other one had her account hacked. in both cases they emailed facebook who helped them sort it all out. i pesonally dont put anydetails on the site as i am worried who can get to them

Thank you cawood and HeatherLynne I have managed to sort it out now without contacting FB. I agree not a good idea to put any info about yourself. I have only a few friends on FB who I have known for a very long time.
