William Galley buried All Saints Kingston upon Thames 14th March 1821 aged 50 (if the correct man Abigail would be a widow on her burial 2 years later)

Checked a scan of the original burial register for Kingston upon Thames, in 1823, and on page 163, and entry no 1306 in the register it shows Abigale, widow of William Galley, abode Kingston, buried 28th May aged 38, ceremony performed by BB Golding.  Abigale didnt have a surname added to the index so have added it.

There are several Galley Prerogative Court of Canterbury wills for Kingston including one for a Robert, though none of these may be directly related to William. Occupations for the men are given are malster, coal merchant and barge master.

From scans of the original register; Burials of Robert Galley's at All Saints in the parish of Kingston Upon Thames (not necessarily a comprehensive listing):

Burial date 13 Jan 1815:  Robert Galley, aged 84 so born abt 1730/1731 (occupations not recorded)

Burial date 22 April 1820: Robert Galley, aged 26 so born abt 1793/1794 occupation Malster  (if the Pilot IGI matching record is correct this Robert was also connected to Hampton Wick).

Burial date 14 Sep 1818: Robert Francis Galley aged 7 weeks so born in 1818, son of Richard Galley

Possibly for the Elizabeth, the possible mother of William Galley, and widow of Robert:

Burial of an Elizabeth Galley at All Saints in the parish of Kingston Upon Thames:-
Burial date 14 Oct 1845: Elizabeth Galley, abode Hampton Wick, aged 74 so born abt 1770/1771.  (Marital statuses not listed)

Most probably goes with the following 1841 entry:

Will of Elizabeth Galley, Widow of Hampton Wick, Middlesex 17 March 1846 PROB 11/2032

If this Elizabeth was William Galley's mother, and Edmund's grandmother, and if it was correct that she was the surviving partner of the marriage, then the above referenced will might be worth downloading.

The problem with the wills is that you cannot prove or refute any relationships until you have sight of them.

OK...  now I've mapped the tree I can see I made a fundamental error in suspecting the Elizabeth living in Hampton Wick in 1841 was Robert's wife and mother of William.  So please also ignore the earlier suggestion about Elizabeth's will possibly being of use.

Sadly, I cannot find any UK/US/Canadian census returns for Edmund's brothers; Joseph and Charles, nor any burial or emigration records, but I did find a marriage for his sister Abigail:

Abigail Galley, spinster of Leatherhead, of full age,
Thomas Mansell, bachelor of full age, labourer, of Leatherhead
Married on 10 Oct 1841 after banns at the parish church of St Mary and St Nicholas, Leatherhead [in the county of Surrey]
Both their fathers names were William and both fathers occupations were indicated as Labourers
Thomas and Abigail made their marks on the register
Witnesses Maria Goff and William Brown
