Would this be him it says  46? : http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Londonderry/Bovagh/Bovagh/1519474/
No. This Hugh Smyth died 19 Jan.1938 and was buried in the family plot of Ballylaggan R.P. Churchyard. Sister Mary died 1914 and sister Maria died 1937. Parents were John and Margaret Smyth of Coole.
why is he living in dungiven if he was buried in Coleraine... Hmm this is really mysterious I think he is the Coleraine one that is the only one that links up as the rest are all in Derry ie too far away are already married in which case he wasn't!!

The Hugh Smyth in 1901 census is living in BOVAGH which is a townland in Aghadowey Parish- NOT Bovevagh.

Right well ok then that was really the last option there is only one choice really close enough to keady and that would be the Somerset ones...  Can't see anything else which would link up with him

How can you eliminate 1901 possibilities by marital status unless you have 1904 marriage to see if he was single or widowed then?

You were given a possible marriage in 1904 but that does not mean he was not married previously. Instead of running around grasping at people with the same name you will need to verify information with sources such as actual church reocrds or certificates.
