I forgot to to tell you what would have happened to them if convicted under Scottish Law for Withcraft back then.

They could be tortured & pricked prior to trial if premission granted and if convicted in court (it was a bit like a Kangaroo court) they were strangled then burnt and ashed scattered.

All because someone had a grudge against them.

I am looking for the grave of a Margaret Hill or Hills who died in the peroid 1826 - 1839 most probably in the first part of this period. I believe she may be buried at the above cemetery.


I know this is a long shot and it’s been many years, but is this Margaret Hill/Hills the wife of a Thomas Hill/Hills (1789-1864), né Margaret Spark?
