Hi,  does anyone know how to obtain birth registration details from Haiti and/or Jamaica circa 1750-1800? I seem to have hit a brickwall with my research
many thanks

Hi maxthecat,

Have you already looked into familysearch.org ?

They have a collection of Jamaican records.

Also they currently have an indexing project for Haiti
due to come online. Films for this may possibly already
be available to view through your local LDS centre.

Before entering your search query, drill down to Jamaica,
by clicking on Caribbean Central and South, then click on
Jamaica, then click on one of these:

Jamaica Births and Baptisms 1752-1920
Jamaica Church of England Parish Register Transcripts, 1664-1880
Jamaica Civil Birth registration

Then enter your search.

Thanks again. The extra directions you gave allowed me to access the relevant  records but there was no trace of the Springer surname I was looking for. So I,m not sure where to try next. :'(

And here http://www.rootschat.com/links/0b25/

Note Jamaican GenWeb in particular,  but there are several
other possibilities which may be useful to you.

Hi again
many thanks for the amount of time you've spent trying to help.
I've "posted " on various Jamaican web sites so live in hopes something will turn up one day.
I've also contacted the Jamaican registrar of births ,deaths and marriages but as yet have not received a reply.

Hi Max, you'll be exceedingly lucky if you get a response from the Jamaican Registrar General's Department.  I've emailled them on two or three occasions and never had a response yet.  They're well known for being "tardy" in their response to say the least.  I wish you the very best of luck in your search anyway.
