Hello,
I am interested in the Gaffee family. I noticed a message about Sarah Fearon (b.1780) marrying Samuel Gaffee Feb 9 1801 at St Dunstan's Stepney, and the Gaffee's were Huguenot's who could be traced back to Claude Gaffee who came to Canterbury in 1685.
Does anyone have access, or know how I can get access, to the Gaffee family tree. I believe I am descended from Claude Gaffee but have not been able to connect the dots.
The information I have on the Gaffee's is as follows:
Benjamin Gaffee (my great x 7 grandfather) (cannot find a baptism), married Susan Fere (later recorded as Susannah on children's baptism records) 27 July 1712 St Alphege, Canterbury.
Benjamin's will was written in 1756, at which time he was a Silk Weaver living in Bethnal Green.
They had the following children:
1. Benjamin
2. John
3. Samuel
4. Jacob
5. Susannah (buried as infant, Feb 1720, St Alphege, Canterbury)
1. Benjamin married Mary Frost 9 May 1734, St Alphege, Canterbury. They had a son named Benjamin.
2. John (a Velvet Weaver) married Hester Cristle 1737, Stepney. They had Esther 1738, Stepney, John 1739, Bethnal Green, and Susanna 1741, Spitalfields.
3. Samuel married Mary Duthoit, 1745, Stepney. They had Samuel, 1748, Bethnal Green (must have died as an infant), Samuel, 1750, Stepney, and James, 1758, Bethnal Green.
4. Jacob (my great x 6 grandfather) (Weaver) married Mary Jamet 1744, Stepney, and 2nd marriage, Mary Pain, 1 12 1755, Bethnal Green. From the latter marriage he had, Jacob, 1752, Bethnal Green, Prudence (my great x 5 grandmother) 1763, Bethnal Green, and Samuel, 1765, Bethnal Green.
If anyone has any information to add to my tree I would be very grateful.
Kind regards,
Katy
