John Green

Am trying to find the parents of John Green b.c. 1816

This is what I have :-

He was the father of Frances Anne Green born Manchester 1st Feb 1851
and is shown on her birth certificate as a "Joiner and packing case maker".Frances's mother is Elizabeth formerly Lamb.Address was 25 Major St, Manchester.

John and Elizabeth's marriage is shown on the Family search pilot -1st Jan 1837 at Eccles Lancaster -but no other info given i.e no parents or places of birth. Is there another site where I could find this info ?

In 1841 John and Elizabeth are shown 25/21 living at back of Lombard St, Manchester with their 2 eldest children. John's detail shows he is not from Lancashire.
They are not on 1851 census due to I believe the water damage which happened to areas of Chorlton Medlock and Manchester.

John died in the early/mid 1850's as in 1856 his widow Elizabeth married Ralph Buckley at Manchester.

Any suggestions on tracing John's parentage would be be much appreciated.
Thanks
Sandra

This date it right on the cusp of registration but I cannot see it appearing on Ancestry, :(  (which probably means it was not registered)  :( ,therefore you only have the parish records for information ,but pre this date, no parents  are given nor places of birth only whether of the parish or not but sometimes you may get lucky with witnesses names being a parent or sibling.

Checking the Lancashire On Line Parish Clerks Project and found this.... the day and month are right but the year is out,... wonder if this could be it and the transcription is wrong about the year either here or the FS Pilot site  :-\

Marriage: 1 Jan 1832 St Mary the Virgin, Eccles, Lancashire, England
John Green - (X), of this Parish
Elizabeth Miller - (X), of this Parish
Witness: Thomas Gorse; James Yates

think just a co-incidence ?
It was Elizabeth Lamb not Miller that appeared on Frances birth cert. in 1851

Thank you so much for your involvment

Keep checking www.lan-opc.org.uk for marriages at St. Mary the Virgin, Eccles as the records are updated regularly.   At present the marriages showing for the year 1837 for the church only start at July 1837 which is when the Civil Registration of Marriages began.  So I am afraid your only clue may lie with the witnesses.
