http://www.rootschat.com/links/0fx9/                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             I suspect this is only for those living in Scotland but still, it might be of use to someone!!

Apparently vouchers for a new account have 50% off, while vouchers for an existing account are 20% off :-\

I bought some of these vouchers in the main library in Edinburgh then tried to use them at home on the SP site and they weren't accepted, turns out on investigation that they were only for use on the libraries computers, not home use. In the end I took them back and got a refund, didn't think it was very well advertised or explained.

I wish Scotlands people site would offer a discount the more credits you buy online, everyone likes to think they are getting a bargain

Oh dear! I was planning on investing in some vouchers when visiting my daughter in Scotland next week. I don't think that conditions of their use have been made clear!
I agree that a discount on larger purchases would be good.

oldfashionedgirl, your comments this morning regarding the conditions of use of the SP Library discounted voucher made me dig a little deeper....

I am not sure why you were told that these vouchers were only available for use at the library that you purchased them at  :-\ You do indeed have to buy them in person from a library but once you have purchased your voucher, you can use them anywhere where you have access to the internet via your specially created SP account.

From another post this morning www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,511203.0.html

These look to be the conditions of the Library SP discount scheme, quoting from the East Renfrewshire Council site and confirmed via telephone:

The new no-fuss vouchers take away the need for making credit card payments online, and can be used anywhere with Internet access. However, using them in your local library will give you access to support from library staff and the many resources held in ....

The new scheme allows public libraries to sell discounted vouchers directly to the public for non-commercial use.

(Please note: vouchers can only be purchased by visiting our community libraries in person).

Starter voucher - £6 for 60 credits (normally £6 for 30 credits)

Top up voucher - £4.80 for 30 credits (20% discount)

www.eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk/heritage/heritage_family_history/voucher_scheme.htm

I also understand, from the conversation today and other google information:

You have to first of all purchase a starter voucher and thereafter buy top up vouchers. Even if you are an existing SP customer, you need to create a new account specifically for use with this voucher scheme. This page from SP provides further details www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/Content/Help/index.aspx?1320

Will these prices go up in April when the SRO prices go up?

Likely they will Jim. It is the discount of 20% that is the concession.

Hi Everyone
There is nothing to stop you buying as many of the £6 vouchers as you like and getting 60 credits for £6 each time. The only thing is to keep a note on the voucher of the names so you can go back and look again should you need to and not trawl through loads of vouchers to find the right one.
