Used up a few remaining credits and checked the Scotlands People site for 1871 cencus ,no sign of Patrick Gorman married to Anne of right age groups. When did they move to scotland? Are you sure birth years are correct? By the way way i have found Scotlands People site to be the most accurate and informative site yet, and if you use it wisely, worth every penny. All card transactions have been extremely secure.

regards Joanne.

The site that magsbutler is referring to is this one
http://www.genealogymarketplace.co.uk
and then by going to the forums and searching down through scotland to lanarkshire you will find the topic concerned.

The message is from someone using the identity trinnyuk

Hiya Falkyrn,

Happy Easter to you. Started celebrations early maybe ???

I use that http:// quite often but usually add something to it :D

Yours looks a bit like a Gin without the Tonic, Ice and Lemon :D

Mags, Happy Easter to you too. Could you enlighten us please ???

All right..here goes :D I have a Directory of Belfast and the Province of Ulster 1852. I looked for Patrick in Belfast..he would have been 17 then so doubt he would be mentioned. I see his father was called John Gorman..I wonder if this is the father John Gorman, porter, 10, Greenland Street, Belfast. There is also a Mrs Gorman  ..no Christian name. She owned a boarding house at 48, Joy Street. Greenland Street ran from Shankhill Road to Cargill Street.

And a Happy Easter to you EVG. Belfast may be a good place to be looking for your Gormans..I doubt they will be from the west coast of Ireland..they tended to go to America. What Christian names run in the family from the present day to the time of Patrick's birth ??? There was a Mary Ann, a Hugh, a James and a William in Belfast in 1852.

There was a John Gorman, publican, in Scotch Street, Dungannon, Co. Tyrone. There may have been some Gormans by the name of John in Omagh, Co. Tyrone. I am sorry I cant help there at the moment as the Directory I have omitted to include Omagh.

All the Best,

Chris

For some reason this sites details are being removed (possibly automatically). It's likely that there is a Rootschat bar in place due to the similarities in the sites approach.

http:// w w w . g e n e a l o g y m a r k e t p l a c e . c o . u k /      if that one works remove all of the spaces and link through to their forums as described earlier ..... if it doesn't work please contact me by PM and I'll send on the web address.

P.S. Christopher http:// is great I use it all of the time too  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Thanks very much Chris and Falkryn.  I haven't been around for various reasons for a while, so I'm catching up.
I hope you are enjoying Easter.
Oh Chris asked what Christian names run in the family.  Mostly John but some James and David.

Gorman. Clasby.  George.  Brooker.  Taylor. Snelgrove.  Evans. Bartlett.  Radburn, Pasby, Carter.
Wiltshire.  Hampshire.  London.  Pontypridd. Scotland
