:)  Wow... Thanks so much.

First bit of real info..

Just need to trace back, where they came from, hopefully Islip, Oxon.
How and when they travelled to Marion.

It will fill a great big hole in my tree.

My best wishes to you. Thanks  :-*

Hi Lesanne
Not sure if this is the same family, but many coincidences compared to the 1870 census previously posted.

1860 US Illinois census

Sarah,   37, born England
Edward, 13, born Illinois
Sidney,   11, born Illinois
Wm,          9, born Illinois
Amelia       7, born Illinois
Ida            5, born Illinois
Fred          3, born Illinois
Elizabeth   1, born Illinois

1850 US Census, Illinois
Will county, New Lenox township

NORRIS

Hope this helps, not hinders

 :D Hi Grub,
Thanks for this. As you know every little bit helps.
This makes it sure that they went to U.S. before Albert was born. 1846.
William and Sarah mar: I found in England 1846. So they must have travelled
                that year.
I have spent quite some time these past few weeks to see which ship
they went on, slowly narrowing the date down.
So it must of been 1846, with some of Sarah's family.
                    Rendall is her family name.

Do you know which port in U.S. they would have gone to, to get to New Lenox?
I have done most of N.Y.
How would they have got to Chigago on the lakes?

This is a never ending story..........  :D Lesanne.

Hi Lesanne

I meant to mention in my post that Wm and Sarah were on the same household/visitation schedule as John,(28), Eliza (20) and Frances (12) RENDALL in Illinois.

My husbands family settled in IL about 40 miles from your Norris', between 1850 and 1860.  Some arrived via Canada, other via New York. Makes life complicated, doesn't it?

Letters written "home" to the UK in early 1860s describe items needed on board ship to make it bearable and then go on to give advice about trains from NY to IL. Makes an interesting read.

I will keep watch for your famil(ies) and wish I could help more.

Regards,
Grub
