Hi Cathy and Earlgrey...I have found my William Set. at last.He is in the 1841 census, with George & Mary, brothers,Isaac, Joseph, born Dean, then the family turn up at St.John the Evangelist, Middlesex..where William was born 1831, Samuel 1834, then Mary 1837.  I realize now there was a mistake on the death cert. for William in Aust...which stated his dad as Joseph. Earlgrey, I have found Mary Setchell still alive in 1871 census.born Dean c 1800, at St.Pancras. London.  Cannot find George or Mary's death yet.   I would like to THANK you both, without your help I would never have found William.   Keep healthy and happy...Rob

Thanks Rob,
Keep looking and tracking.
The 1841 census release is a great boon to those lost and elusive members of the family.
Regards and best
Earl Grey

David

You night be right I was just concentrating on surname - then I went straight to Keysoe to see if they were there.  I'll have to have another look next time I am in Bedford.

It is strange that Catherine 'Kitty' SETCHELL wasnt there as she is in the 1851..

Interestingly, I found this in National Archives:

WO 97/741/110 WILLIAM SETCHELL Born KEYSOE, Bedfordshire Served in 60th Foot Regiment Discharged aged 22 1846-1848

WO 97/1036/92 WILLIAM SETCHELL Born KEYSOE, Bedfordshire Served in 95th Foot Regiment Discharged aged 22 1846-1848

If he was aged 22 in 1848, he is too old anyway!
