William & Susannah Whitney of Whitchurch
« on: Friday 07 January 11 15:22 GMT (UK) »
Hi,  My Gt.Gt. Grandfathers son William & his wife Susannah are on the 1901 census for College Road, Whitchurch.  They have seven children - Mary J 17, Evan 15, Thomas 12, Edward O 9, Abraham 6, Margaret 4, William G 2.
I wonder if anyone with access to parish registers could look up marriages for Evan born 1886 - possible marriage March quarter 1909. 11a 427.

Thomas born 1889 - Marriage to Hawkins - Sept. quarter 1912.  11a 638.

William G. born 1899 Marriage to Walker - March quarter 1921, 11a 738.

I have looked on freebmd for marriages for Edward O - born 1892 and Abraham - born 1895, but were unable to find them.

I would love to get details of any of the marriages, if this is not imposing too much.  If it is, just one or two would be great!

Regards, Diana

Edward O Whitney sept qtr 1928 Cardiff vol 11a pg 713 to Ena C Hiscocks
birth reg
Ena Clarice Hiscocks sept qtr 1899 Cardiff vol 11a pg 355
Likely entry for her on 1901 census RG13/4977 folio6 pg 4

Thomas Whitney married Lilian M Hawkins
William married Bremmer I Walker
birth reg
Bremmer Ina Walker sept qtr 1901 Cardiff vol 11a pg 415

to find a marriage in parish registers you need to know which place of worship the marriage took place in. If it was a registry office marriage, there will be no parish record. It's possible that registers from the 1910s & 1920s are still in the parish and not in the record office.
Cardiff registration district covered these parishes

Hi Osprey and keyboard86,

Thank you soooo much for all the info, I am thrilled to bits with it.  Obviously I have a lot to learn regarding this family history business.  But it is so fascinating, the more you know, the more you want to know!!  It has become like a full time job to me.  I don't know when I found time to go to work!

Thanks very much both of you,

Regards, Diana
