Carolan's from Castlering
« on: Saturday 08 January 11 05:18 GMT (UK) »
Hi Rootschatters,

I am trying to follow up on Peter Carolan and his family from Castlering, Parish of Louth.  Peter’s Father was also a Peter Carolan and his Mother Bridget McCabe.  Their religion was Catholic.  Both Peter's occupation were Farmers.

Would be grateful for any information on any other siblings from the Carolan/McCabe marriage which would have occurred about 1810+ or anything at all on the Carolan family from either Louth or Monaghan.

Peter had a brother Bernard who’s information follows:

Bernard Carolan's was born about 1818, in Louth, Parish of Louth.

On 10 Mar 1840 in the Parish of Inishkeen, County Monaghan and Louth, Bernard Carolan married Alice Kindelan, the witnesses to this marriage were a Michael Woods and Margaret Caulfield.  Bernard’s occupation was a Miller/Farmer and the religion of both the Carolan’s and Kinderlan’s were Catholic.

Bernard and Alice had following children:

Peter Carolan and was baptised on 10 Jan 1841, Parish of Inishkeen, County Monaghan and Louth, the sponsors were Peter Carolan and Ann Woods.  Peter died in Australia.

Mary Carolan was baptised on 1 Mar 1842, Parish of Inishkeen, County Monaghan and Louth the sponsors were Thomas McCabe and Mary Woods.  Mary died in Australia.

Patrick Carolan was baptised on 17 Apr 1843, Parish of Inishkeen, County Monaghan and Louth the sponsors were Margaret Kindelan and James Maloney.  Patrick is presumed deceased prior to 1864.

James Carolan was baptised on 27 Jul 1845, Parish of Inishkeen, County Monaghan and Louth the sponsors were a Peter and Catherine Carolan.  James is presumed deceased prior to 1864.

John Carolan born about 1850.  John died in Australia.

Edward Carolan born about 1852.  Edward died in Australia.

Bridget Carolan - presumed deceased prior to 1864.

Bernard Carolan - presumed deceased prior to 1864.

Ellen Carolan - presumed deceased prior to 1864.

The Carolan's left Liverpool for Melbourne on board the "Royal Family" on 26 Jan 1864.

Further information on Bernard's Family can be found on McNulty link (Monaghan Board):
