just to put a marker down ...

1891 census of Shadwell, Stepney District - RG12; Piece: 289; Folio 16; Page 25 - 231, High Street

John Hurley 31 Head born Whitechapel: Dock Labourer
Alice Hurley 26 Wife born Shadwell
John Hurley 2 son ditto
Edward Hurley 4 mons or 9 mons old? ditto

I cant see a marriage - where did you get Alice's Maiden name? (childs cert?)

There are too many John Hurleys born around 1860 East End to be sure - hence the marriage papers ID of his Father's name would help.

Turning to Alice - I believe she may have been the daughter of George (a Waterman) and Rob(ertina) (born Scotland)

I didnt make a note of the St George in the East 1871 census, where Alice is shown born in Wapping.

In 1881, Robertina is a Widow, kids shown born 'London' still in an area like Bromley, fairly close to the Thames?
