William RUSSELL either 1787 or 1794 beer devon

i am trying to trace my 3 x great grandfather william russell baptisim
i know he was born in beer devon i know his occ was a fisherman i know he married my 3 x great grandmother jane russell nee tucker beer devon jan 15 1813
she died 1855 beer her death cert states she was a widow im also trying to trace the poss that william was born 1794 beer  on my tree i have his birth year as c 1787 with no parents
the william 1794 has parents john russell  & susannah whitmore bap 23/5 /1768 branscombe devonn he they also had a daughter mary  bap 22/4 /1792 beer

Hi orbison,

I note in 1841 William is aged 45 which would suggest a birth between 1792 and 1795.

Looks like young Mary is the daughter of son John.

The IGI has coverage for Seaton and Beer in this period and the only baptism appearing is the one you mention. Is there a reason you think William was born in 1787? He is deceased by 1851. He named children John and Susan. (possibly a clue the baptism you have is the correct one.)

The marriage of William RUSSELL and Jane TUCKER was the 15 Aug 1813 not 15 Jan.

Looks like William may have died Mar 1/4 1842 Axminster10 10

Extracted records were taken directly from the parish register and are generally quite reliable, but, saying that, as with any transcribed record, there is margin for error. It is advisable to check the original. If you are not able to view the film I would suggest you order a copy from the DRO (particularly as you feel the date is incorrect)

Do you have that 1842 death cert proving it is the wrong William? I don't see another in the Axminster District (the correct district for Beer) but if you have ruled out this one, he may have died away from home, which will make it more difficult to locate the correct death as ages were not listed in the index from this period to help rule some out. Jane was widowed in 1851.

yes i have that death cert he was 83 & a shoemaker not my william
i think my william died at sea
