If you wanted to cut a dash in the mid-late 1880's this is how to look.
The stylish morning coat was very popular, worn with the top button fastened like this
& with a cane accessory I would think.
The cardstock is also a mid- late 1880's design.
although he's gone grey I would say he's 40-45.

Jim - you hit the jackpot again.  This may well be George Lazenby (1844 - 1891) who lived in Cleckheaton, and is uncle to the children.  He had died before their photo, but his wife survived him.
