Wozzle, thanks once again - a mine of information. I believe I have found Robert Cocking's marriage in Sep 1872 in Gainsborough but I have no idea who to. I'll give going down the individual lines of the family a miss at present as there are just too many of them. I see in CuriousFox there is an enquiry concerning "my" Henry Cocking but it is old and the reply email address is now dead. Have you come across it in the past?

And once again, thanks very much. This stands a very good chance of being the marriage. The only problem with all this information is the cost of verifying relationships with birth/marriage/death certificates, etc.. Looks like I may have to save up!

Hi,
The Cocking family in Beckingham at the Crown Inn,
1861 Census lists John and Martha Cocking, also included in the family is Emma dau aged 2 born Beckingham. John is still there in 1891 as a Wdr, on 1861 states brn Beckingham, 1891 brn Gringley, he was married at Beckingham in 1842 to Martha Barker of Beckingham by banns.
No bapt in Beckingham PR's for John 1817c
I have a copy of a pencil drawing of the Old Crown Inn, Beckingham 1894 by H
Bocock

Other Cocking marriages from the banns register of Beckingham All Saints Church.
Ann Elizabeth Cocking to Charles Walker 1866
Robert Cocking bach of the parish of Sheffield to Gertrude Morris of Beckingham Aug 1872

Thanks Louthlass; I believe Phoebe Bocock married John's son Thomas in 1881 so that is the Bocock connection. Could you scan and email a copy of the drawing please?
