1871-81 Emigration - John At(t)well

Hi,

    shot in the dark this.

   My Great grandfather John Attwell seems to have disappeared between 1871 and 1881. He was 20 in the 1871 English census living with his wife Tamar at 8 Keelinge Street, Dudley. The next census in 1881 shows Tamar  living with her fathers family with 2 children. There were stories when I was young about an Attwell going to America, possibly Pittsburgh or Ohio. Would someone kindly review any shipping or other records to see if there are any entries.
