Yours has been cropped, the bottom cut off, and with it went the name Mussoorie. I would guess that this one has the same back as yours, and is dated 1889.

If yours were 1889, the boy would be just about the right age to be your granddad.

Mystery solved.  Thank you so much China.  My grandad was sent to England in 1891 so it would fit.  Maybe his dad wanted a photo of him before he left.
