Des,

I would recommend you also check out Shane's suggestion. It's pretty unusual to have a marriage cert which doesn't give father's names and fuller addresses for either party. I think you've probably got a copy of the cert the priest gave them, whereas the full civil register entry should give you more family information. You can get a photocopy for €4 from GRO Roscommon, so it's worth checking out. (Irish records can be thin on the ground, as you've probably discovered, and so you need to pursue every slender lead).

Elwyn

I'll check that outs Elwyn..and thank to ya'll

As far as I know the Woods name has gone from Cootehill. I have an old invoice
it's from W.H.Woods Ltd., Cootehill. Phone 15. Egg and Poultry Exporters, dated 4/5/1955.  Church of Ireland records queries to Rep Church Body Library, Braemor Park, Churchtown, Dublin 6. Tel. 014923979 or library[at]ireland.anglican.org
I think there may be a small charge for copies of info etc. Les

Another source:

Ulster Covenant of 1912 has one listing for WOODS in Cootehill:

WOODS, Wm. A. of Cootehill

Regarding the listing of Wm. A WOODS, in the Ulster Covenant.   I looked at the signature again and it could just as easily be Wm. H. WOODS.  That would fit in with the other listings mentioned.

I have a little information on a family of McGetricks ans Woods. Patrick W. McGetrick was born in 1868 in Sligo and Maggie A Woods was born in Cootehill in 1870. Patrick and Maggie were married in 1895 in Drumgoon Church in Cootehill.
Patrick and Maggie by 1901 had five children and were living in Armagh in the commericial area of Upper English Street trading as Drapers. By 1911 the family had moved to Belfast.

I am looking for any connection with the Cavan link and Margaret Aloysius Woods and Patrick William McGetrick. Any help wopuld be greatly appreciated.

Did you ever get the copy of the marriage certificate to see if either father is listed? What are the exact residences of bride and groom at the time of their marriage?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Yes, there are no addresses or reference to either fathers' occupations. The couple were over 21. The marriage took place in Drumgoon parish on 9 Octobber 1894 with witnesses Joesph Lennon and Theodora Wood (maybe a mistake but no "s").

That was the civil record of the marriage? Sometimes fathers are not listed on a marriage record (if bride/groom illegitimate, father deceased, etc.) but the certificate has to list a residence for bride and groom which makes me wonder if you have the record from the church rather than the actual marriage certificate. (this was discussed earlier in this topic)
