Eva Tilley was my mum's aunt & Eva married Neville Newling & this query was posted on her behalf.
From the information posted we have gathered the following information:

Neville Newling was born on 4th May 1915 - mother was Elsie Maud(e) Newling.
Elsie was unmarried at the time of Neville's conception & he was looked after by his grandparents James & Harriet Newling.
Elsie married Nicholas Diehmn 1916 -  18 months after Neville's birth. In 1927 Elsie & Nicholas had a daughter - Heather Marie Diehm who died at the age of 9 years.

John - where did you find this piece please??

IT will be interesting to see if he has him as the father  when in fact he may not have been, otherwise why did he did live with them ??
