Clara Augusta THOMSON nee HORN born Dec 1848 Blackfriars/Christchurch, Southwark.

Louisa Florence THOMSON born Nov 1885 Kennington, South Lambeth

"Harry" THOMSON bc late 1886-1888

Clara and her husband parted about late 1886 or early 1887 when living in Olney Street, Newington.  The husband and earlier children can be accounted for but I can't confirm any sightings of Clara, daughter Louisa Florence (noted as alive in 1918) or son "Harry" who was born after the separation and killed in the early part of WW1 soon after Loo... (Loos? which would be Sep/Oct 1915).

In a statement for settlement purposes (1918) the husband says he has heard nothing of his wife since they parted 1886/1887 yet he lists Louisa Florence as living and knows "Harry" was killed. 

Any sightings would be greatly appreciated.

No sorry she is on 1891 as aged 24, d of b = 1867, so it can't be her, under Harrison but it does say she was born in Blackfriars

I have found the following family in the 1891-1911 census and would like to verify or discount them if anybody can help:

Henry (in 1891, William in 1901) Apr/May 1890 Brixton Clapham
Arthur 1891 Eastleigh/Bishopstoke Hampshire

In 1911 they are said to have been married 26 years .............. can anybody see a likely marriage or any likely parish register entries?

Clara Thomson, hubby and family at 21 Devonshire Place on the same census?


Emma and son seem to wander off into the sunset which doesn't necessarily prove Clara Thomson nee Horn steps in, though after Clara's death in 1913 there is a possibility of a marriage for William, who leaves a will on his death in 1928.

The only Louisa Chaproniere marriage is Louisa E in Portsmouth registration district.

Interesting coincidence that there is a Clara Augusta Chaproniere birth registration in Lambeth in 1884 (another disappearing Chaproniere child)


Worse comes to the worse there's always Arthur's mother's maiden name on his birth certificate

Just a stone's throw away from number 21 and I missed it!  Only 25 years of looking for Clara and this is the nearest I've got

I noticed the Clara Augusta CHAPRONIERE birth ref. too.  Clara had left Mr THOMSON in the earlier 1880s before returning to him for a final time so I did wonder about that - there appears to be some discrepancies with later birth registrations for the family.
