Rose family from Bethnal Green

Hello,

Ahead of another visit to the LMA I thought I'd ask the assembled experts, that's you lot, if anyone can find marriages for some of the offspring of George Rose (b.1868 - d.?) and Emma Maria Bracken (b.1869 - d.?)?  I have the records for 3 of their 10 (at least) children, but I'm looking for marriages for the following;

George Charles Rose (b.1890)
Henry Albert Rose (b.1892)
John William Rose (b.1895)
Lillian May Rose (b.1897)
Kate Georgina Rose (b. 1904)
William Edward Rose (b.1910)

They were all born in Bethnal Green and as the Rose surname is very common and I can't find them on Ancestry's London records, all help will be gratefully received.

Thanks for the quick reply and I've looked on FreeBMD, but there are so many Rose's that it is difficult to pin down my targets, especially if only the Christian name is used with no middle name or initial.  There are some likely candidates that I'll check when next at the LMA, but I'm hoping someone else is researching the family, or has access to more detailed records.

I can't help with your original request as I only have access to Ancestry and you've already looked there. 

Many members of my Edden family, who lived in London around St Pancras, have Rose as a middle name - including four Samuel Rose Eddens, four William Rose Eddens and two George Rose Eddens.  I wondered if you had come across any Eddens in your research?  The earliest of them was born 1807 so I guess the marriage between the Edden and Rose families must have been before then but I've not found it yet.  Most of them were plasterers by trade, do you think there could be a connection between our families?

Hello Heather,

Sorry no Edden's found so far, but George Rose was born in the St. Luke's workhouse and I know his mother was Mary Rose, but I'm not 100% certain who the father was, although I suspect she's Mary Sidwell and he was John Rose.

Nigel,
Have you any birth/death dates for the 4 males in your list. Death certs may well show a widows name/son/daughter. Think at this time may have found deaths for George 1964 and Henry 1949.

I thought I'd take a look on Ancestry and see if I could find anything - I hadn't realised just how many Roses there are! 

Have you found the family on the 1911 census?  I'm just thinking there might be a chance that one of their children whose marriages you're looking for lived with their new spouse at the family home for a while before getting a place of their own.  Or maybe the parents have grandchildren living with them?  You've probably already gone down this route but I thought it worth mentioning.

Hi John and Heather,

Thanks for your replies and the birth dates are George 16/1/1890, Henry 3/3/1892, John 15/5/1895 and William 14/11/1910.  I have the 1911 census and all the sons are at home, unmarried and George is a French Polisher, Henry a newsvendor and John an errand boy.
