Lelant, Churches
« on: Sunday 16 January 11 11:19 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I have traced a line of my family to Lelant.

I have baptisms etc for Lelant.  I looked at a map of Lelant 1876.

It does show I believe 2 Churches, one must be a Methodist Church as I have seen a disc available of the baptisms.
But the family I have seem to be C of E. Is the other Church CofE and does anyone know if there is any available records other than the CornwallOPC site?

Is there is Graveyard attached to these Chruches?

Thanks Cancan :)

Have you looked at the parish entry on Genuki? It gives info on the church, the whereabouts of the records and any transcriptions. The opc makes transcriptions available, but orginals of parish records are normally at the county record office, in this case at Truro.

There's definitely a graveyard, but don't bank on the existence of a gravestone.

Hi cancan

There is definitely a churchyard at St Uny.

Is there anything I can help you with as I live nearby?

Hi,

Thanks for the replies,  I have had a good nosey at all the sites - interesting!!! :D

The Penwith Forum is very bright!!!!  :o

Barbara!!

My interest is in the surname of Pearse.  I have managed to trace the line back by pure chance of searching a microfilm(for Lancashire) at the LDS church and found two children with the same fathers name on their marriage Cert's.  I was beginning to think she was an only child! This helped me to finally get somewhere with the Pearses'

I have used the Cornwall OPC site which has taken me back to between 1780-1800.  Where I have come to a stop.  They seem to be the only family/children baptised at Lelant/St Erth.  The other family names are Winnan & Webber.

I was wondering if any MI's existed for any of the churches take me any further with any of the names.

Thanks Cancan :)

Hi Cancan

I can certainly access Lelant PRs and will find out about the availability of MIs.

Can you give me some names and dates?
