What country (and county if in UK) and era are you researching?

I believe the deeds may be able to be traced but I'll let someone more knowledable give you the correct information.

Good luck.

Hi

Worth looking at the guide at the top of the London and Middlesrx board

A guide to London and National Archives and useful information leaflets.

It lists for example all the information leaflets produced by the London Metropolitan Archives including

The Middlesex Deeds Registry 1709-1938

thx for the link Valda. Could u clarify for me. When they say the memorials for the years 1838-1890 were destroyed,do the indexes with their limited info for the same period still exist? Have u or anyone else seached them. If u only have an address, how hard is the search if u do not have the brought and sold dates or names of previous owners?

Hi

You still have the registers - the extracted information from the memorials. All the indexes and registers survive. The index is yearly. Within each year you search on surname not property

'To use the indexes you require the approximate date of the transaction and the name of the vendor or first party. Bear in mind that some deeds were not registered until several years after the original conveyances.'

Your starting point would be the date the family you know owned the property (most people rented) and when they sold it, if before 1938.
