1851 Census Richard CUSICK & Martha
« on: Wednesday 19 January 11 07:41 GMT (UK) »
Listers,

I am trying to locate Richard and Martha Cusick on the 1851 census. They should be in Clerkenwell, Middlesex but I can't seem to find them. Of their children, Annorah (Laura) was baptised in Clerkenwell in 1848 and Ellen Margaret was baptised in Clerkenwell in 1856. (I also believe there is a Richard c1851 but haven't proved that yet.) I know that this does not prove that they were there all of the time in between but it is reasonable starting point.

Richard and Martha were married St John the Baptist, Hoxton, in 1845.

Grateful if someone could locate them.

Peter
Allen, Brown, West - Berkshire
Caesar, Dicker, Lamden, West - Hampshire
Hicks, Martin, Masters - Kent, Middlesex
Hancox/Hancock/Hancocke - Warwickshire
Gardner - Devon
Traylen - Essex & Jersey

I can't seem to find them in either 1851 or 1861 census.

Can't even find the marriage on FreeBMD?!

Are you sure the names are correct? ;)

I see that Richard was a Paper Stainer on Annorah Penelope Cussick's baptism record (she was actually born Sep 1847), so is this a coincidence? (cant see the Family in 1861 ... )

1851 census of Clerkenwell - HO107; Piece: 1517; Folio: 124; Page: 45 - 12, Noble Street

Richard Hart 35 Head of Household born Ireland: a Paper Stainer
Martha Hart 22 Wife born Bishopsgate
Hannah Hart 3 dau born Clerkenwell

Ellen Margaret's baptism in Pentonville 1856 has the surname spelled CUISICK

Marriage in LMA records; here's the GRO marriage:-

Marriages Mar 1845

BENSTEAD  Martha     Shoreditch  2 291
CUSIET  Richard     Shoreditch  2 291

The Martha in 1851 is aged 22 .... here is Martha Benstead, age 12 (mother Penelope - good link to Annorah's christening) in the 1841 census:-

HO107; Piece 708; Book: 4; Civil Parish: St Leonard Shoreditch; County: Middlesex; Enumeration District: 15; Folio: 40; Page: 16 - HOXTON Old Town, Georges Square

Penelope Banstead 45
Hannah Banstead 15
Elizabeth Banstead 15
Martha Banstead 12
George Banstead 8

all born in the County of Middlesex.
