Mort29,

Many thanks for the 1841 info showing Martha aged 12, at home. I will try and look at the 1851 census image you found to see if it is a likely match.

Valda,

Also many thanks for the second marriage to Thomas Peacock and the 1861 census info.

Regards

Just looking at the 1851 entry isnt going to tell you much more than my deductions / reasons for showing it.

Linking it however with Valda's info on the 1853 GRO Index entry for the birth of the Ellen HART Cuisick, and her presence with the 1861 Peaccock family strengthens the case.

Valda,

Thanks again you're a star.

Mort29,

The reason for suggesting a look at the image was I wasn't sure whether you had looked at the original image or a transcript. If you looked at the image I won't waste my time.

Regards

All,

I have now had a chance to look into your findings a little more - Cu(i)sick/Hart etc. I know you have all put in a lot of effort to try and identify a family (in 1851)  in Clerkenwell that might fit. My main concern is that on Ellen Cuisick's baptism record at Clerkenwell (the actual image) it says:

1856 April 6 Ellen Margaret, Richard & Martha, Cuisick, 29 Hermes Street Pentenville, Plumber.

No mention of Hart and I am concerned that "Marg" and "Hart" are quite similar. I think I will have to order Ellen's birth certificate to see if there was a transcrition error or if the Hart connection is real.

I will add another post when I get the cert.

(While I am posting I owe Mort29 an apology. My posting looked abrupt and seemed rude on second reading. I know listers can spend a lot of time chasing down queries looking for possible answers and I, for one, am very grateful - sorry.)

No worries.

Unfortunately, the 1853 Birth Index entry is typewritten, so if HART was interpreted from MARG, its not going to be easy to find out. I dont know if its possible to view the original than perhaps at the LMA or wherever the original St Luke Registers are kept?

It is perhaps more than a coincidence when you combine the 1851 find (Richard a Paper Stainer, Martha the right age and PoB etc) of a HART family with that BIE for an Ellen HART Cuisick in the right sort of area?

I have ordered a copy of the birth certificate so at least we will know whether the typewritten entry is the same as the original. I will post again when it arrives. However, I do agree that it does appear more than a coincidence.

I have now received the birth certificate. It is the right family Richard Cuisick and Martha, formerly Benstead, and the name definitely looks like Ellen Hart. I think I'm OK copying some fragments of the image - the name and a snapshot of the address. I would appreciate others taking a look. The address looks like ___tailor Street, St Luke.
