Looking for Tasmanian relative
« on: Thursday 20 January 11 15:27 GMT (UK) »
James Parkinson was Living in Launceston Tasmania 1930 with his wife Ellen. Not sure when he left England but would appreciate any help locating any surviving members of his family. James was about 55 yrs at this time.

Thanks for the help Trevor. I have been all over the Tasmanian records dept. and come up empty.
Norecord of deaths or childrens marriages. Maybe I should try Aus. Do have a letter from James to my g/mother dated 17/11/1930 fron Launceston Tas.  Will keep trying. Mom-mom

hi mom
just for the record in those emigration records it gives a list of countries to choose from for a destination but tasmania isn,t in that list so be careful you may well be looking right i may be that for tas they had to go to aus then island hopthe other thing to remember on this vein is that a lot of these ships were mail carriers so made stop offs en route anyway so perhaps there just giving the main port to port info, but you lose nothing by looking at aus records do you
best wishes

Trevor, will keep all your info. in mind, this is all so new to me and so much to digest.
just hope I can find answers. It seems my history has a few skeletons in hiding on both sides.
Still fun to hunt.

Warm regards, Irene (mom-mom)
