Thanks again.  Have found how to apply for death Cert but unless I can get a bank in the US I cannot order the cert and a 3 month wait is unbelievable

The WI Vital records was where I obtained the info that I have to have a US financial institue money order from.  I will take a look at the Ask a Librarian

I know this is pushing my luck a little but I dont suppose James appears on the 1920 WI census?

Armit is not such a common name - Boston Passenger and Crew Lists are coming up with the name in 1927/28 James Armit is a member of the crew 2 and 3 rd Asst   Elusive on the census at the mont but still looking.
